Annapurna Base camp Trekking is one of the most beautiful treks that combine easy walking with majestic scenery and a mix of cultures unmatched by any other trek in Nepal. There are many different ethnic groups along the trail, but the predominant people in this area are the Gurungs.together with the Magar and Chetrie people, the Gurungs are famous as soldiers in the British Army, better known as Gurkhas.
Along the trail the views of Machapuchare and the Annapurnas are magnificent. The various trails from which we can choose lead us towards such Himalayan giants as Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna II (7937m.) and Machapuchare (6993m). Climbing higher, the winding trail passes through magnificent forests of oak and rhododendron that line the southern foothills of the Himalaya. The terrain varies from sub-tropical valleys with banana trees and rice paddies to high ridges clad in thick rhododendron forest. In January and February, these may well be covered in snow, while during March and April they will be a blaze of red rhododendron flowers.
Very famous viewpoint from Poon Hill fantastic sunrise and 360 deg view of all the Annapurna Range including Annapurna South (7272m) Annapurna I (8091m) with imposing views of the Mt. Dhaulagiri(8167m). After Dovan walking through the alpine meadow and breathtaking views of mountains. Once arrived at Annapurna Base Camp, we will be surrounded by snowcapped mountain sanctuary. The altitudes of this trek between about 915m at Pokhara to approx.4200m at Annapurna, going up and down will test the best pair of knees. The secret is, take it slowly.

A beautiful valley set on the banks of the Phewa Lake, Pokhara is also known for its panoramic views of Annapurna, Machapuchare (shape of fishtail) in the north, Dhaulagiri in the west, Lamjung Himal and Manaslu in the east. It is smaller and much less hectic than Kathmandu, hence providing the perfect starting point for our trek. Overnight at a hotel.
We begin our trek at Nayapul after a 1-hour drive on a private vehicle from Pokhara. After a short 15-minute walk along the banks of the Modi Khola, we reach Birethanti (1015m) a large village with many shops and tea houses. From there, the trail continues through the village and follows the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. The trail climbs steadily up the side of the valley to Hille at 1495m and after a short climb, we reach Tikhedhunga at 1570m. today’s walk is relatively short and easy, a prelude to the trekking experience in the Annapurna region.
We move on towards the steep climb to Ulleri, a large Magar village at an altitude of 2070m. The trail ascends more gently from this point, through fine forests of oak and rhododendrons towards Banthanti at 2250m. Then we trek towards Nangethanti at 2460m. After an hour walk, we arrive at Ghorepani (2840m). Overnight at a guesthouse.
Today, very early in the morning, we start an hour hiking to Poon Hill at an elevation of 3210m, a brilliant mountain range spectacle; this vantage point provides an unobstructed view of the sunrise over the high Himalayas. There we spend about 1 hour, then returning to Ghorepani we take a hot breakfast at a hotel. Then we make a climb along ridges, and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali (2960m). After that, we descend to the Banthanti, then turning off to Tadapani. Overnight at a guesthouse.
The day starts with a steep downhill through rhododendron forests. Leaving Tadapani, we descend through the forests and then the trail eases as we reach Gurjung which is the village of Gurung people, with an easy walk to Chommrong. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Today the trail drops down to the Chhomrong Khola and again we continue climbing to Khuldighar. There is a clearing in the forest a little further on, from which, the route travels very steeply down a rock bank then levels out, running through thickets of bamboo at the bottom of the gorge, keeping always on the west side of the river. Overnight at a guesthouse.
It's is a short walking day today because of altitude.our day begins with the climb through bamboo, then rhododendron forests to the Himalayan Hotel and on to Hinko cave. The accommodation will be in Deurali, on the ridge above Hinko is the stretch of trail that is most subject to avalanche. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Today the trail climbs on past the Machhapuchhare Base Camp, which isn’t really a base camp since climbing the mountain is not permitted. Since it is totally surrounded by mountains, this area is known as the Annapurna Sanctuary. Two hours trek from Machhapuchhare Base Camp takes you to the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) at an elevation of 4130m. There, you will view unobstructed views of mountain scenery, which is very spectacular. Overnight at a guesthouse.
We follow the same trail down today the trail drops by 1700m. to the bank of Modi Khola to Bamboo at 2345m. where there are a few tea houses available to stay at. Overnight at a guesthouse.
We follow the same trail until Chommrong. Once we have passed Khuldighar there is an experimental sheep farm, the trail continues through rhododendron and bamboo fields. from Chomrong the trail descends very steeply to the Jhinu hot spring, where you can bathe in natural hot springs. Overnight at a guesthouse.

November 24,2019
Me and my friends did the ABC trek in early November. Niru (our guide) and Yam (our porter) are very friendly, professional, helpful, reliable and caring. During the trek, Niru always kept us motivated. I can say Niru is a highly experienced guide. He always checked our condition and listened to our needs. Niru and Yam did a very good job to make sure we reach ABC and come back safely.
After completing the trek, Niru was still checking on us and making sure that we are okay. On my last day in Kathmandu, Niru and Man Kumar Tamang (the owner of Halesi Treks) personally invited me for a farewell dinner. I really feel like a family.
I can’t thank Halesi Treks (Niru, Yam, Man Kumar) enough for making my second visit to Nepal so memorable.
I will highly recommend Halesi Treks for their excellent service!
Thank you and see you again!!
