        Useful Information

Accommodation available during the trek is usually camping and staying in homestays but in some places basic lodges/teahouses are available. In Kathmandu any type of accommodation you wish for from 5-star  hotels and resorts, budget hotels, homestays anything is available. In Diktel and Bhojpur, there are minimal lodges/hotels/homestays present and some also have attached bathrooms. Since this route has homestays, we will also be staying in homestays most of the time while we are not camping. Likewise in Salpa Pokhari very basic teahouse is available but for all the rest part of the trek, we will be camping.

        Meals During the Mundum Trek

At the hotel in Diktel, Bhojpur Nepali, continental, Indian cuisine is available. Whereas in teahouses, only Nepali and basic Indian meals are prepared. While on tented camp, the team will prepare very nutritious and delicious meals.

The meals prepared by the team in camping usually consist of meat of choice, canned tuna, rice, beaten rice, low-weight noodles, pasta, vegetables, and raw snacks. Soft cold drinks, tea/coffee, powdered milk, and hot chocolate are also available.

Likewise, in homestays, the Kiratis will prepare their own ethnic cuisine and two of their traditional meal that you must try are Kinema and Wichipa. Kinema is made by fermenting cooked soybeans, it has a very strong flavor is highly nutritious, and will provide you energy while trekking. Wachipa is also very helpful for trekking as it helps with body aches and constipation.

Similarly, the traditional Nepali meal Dal Bhat is available everywhere. Dal Bhat consists of boiled rice, lentil soup, the meat of choice (optional), vegetable curry, and pickles. It also comes with Nepali deserts but it varies according to place. The travelers will not have to worry about meals the entire trip, they are safe, hygienic, nutritious, yummy, and prepared with love. But if you have any allergies to any meals, we request you to tell your guide in advance.

        Trekking Crew

An experienced and licensed Guide and necessary porters will assist you during the trek. In a group with more than 8 clients, 2 guides will be provided for the betterment of service. In a teahouse trek, generally, one porter is provided for every two clients who carry between 15 to 18 kg. However, on a camping journey, more porters are required. All the camping types of equipment such as kitchen, dining, dome, and toilet tents, kitchen equipment, fuel, and all consumable goods have to be carried from Kathmandu which needs more manpower. All of our guides and porters are fully insured so you don't have to worry about them in case of emergency. Our team believes that our customer care is the first priority.

        How Difficult is Mundum Trekking?

Mundum trek is an easy-graded trek. The trekking trails are easy. Also, the trek does not go to a very high altitude as compared to some high altitude treks in Nepal like Everest base camp, Annapurna Circuit, Manaslu, Kanchenjunga, and several others. Bring your family and friends on the trek. Anyone with good physical fitness can do this trek.
Mundum Trek is an easy trek that is fit for those who has the ability to walk 5-6 hours of walking uphill and downhill in a day carrying the personal day pack. Some days are longer with 7- 8 hours of walking as well. MundumTrek is an altitude trek that demands less physical effort having strong determination, a positive vibe, and average physical fitness can complete this trek. Doing some physical exercise a few weeks prior to the trip is better but technical skill is not required for this trek. If you are taking medicine for heart, lung, or blood diseases, please kindly consult your doctor and inform Halesi Treks.

        Travel Insurance

This is a real adventure in high altitude so obtaining travel insurance is always a good idea for your safety and is highly recommended too. Your travel insurance policy should cover helicopter evacuation and medical expenses in an emergency. There is not any Nepalese insurance company to sell travel insurance policies so you better buy a good one from home. There are some insurance policies that covers only in low altitudes below 4000 mt. and some only in high altitudes above 4000 mt. So before you purchase it, please double-check the policy what it covers and where are you going.

        Best Time for Mundum Trekking

Mundum trekking is a newly opened trek in Nepal that is suitable for trekking at all times of the year. You can go for Mundum trekking at any time when you have a vacation. But The best times to visit the Mundum route are Spring (March to May) and Autumn (mid-September to the beginning of December)

        Ground Transportation

Highways in Nepal are safe, however, sometimes transport can be halted due to landslides, strikes, or by political unrest. Add a cushion of a few extra days in your onward travel schedule, advised as a margin of safety for your international flight from Nepal. We, therefore, advise that you schedule at least an extra day cushion in your itinerary to avoid conflicts with international flights out of Nepal. In that case, Halesi Treks can arrange activities with your additional days in Kathmandu before your flight home.
